Test Mode vs. Live Mode
MyPact operates on two blockchain networks. You choose which one to use when creating an agreement.
Test mode — Sepolia
A practice network that uses no real money. Everything works exactly like Live mode, but with free test tokens.
- Cost: Free — $0
- Tokens: Test USDC (no real value)
- Network fees: Paid with free Sepolia ETH from a faucet
- Purpose: Try out MyPact, test workflows, learn the interface
- MyPact tier: Available on all plans (Free, PAYG, Pro, Team)
Getting Sepolia ETH: Visit sepoliafaucet.com or Alchemy’s Sepolia faucet. Paste your wallet address and they’ll send you free test ETH within seconds.
Live mode — Base
The real network for real agreements with real funds. Base is an Ethereum Layer 2 network built by Coinbase — it’s fast and inexpensive.
- Cost: Depends on your MyPact plan ($9/agreement or $29+/month)
- Tokens: Real USDC (actual money)
- Network fees: Usually under $0.05 per transaction
- Purpose: Production agreements with real funds
- MyPact tier: Available on PAYG, Pro, and Team plans
Why Base?
Most escrow platforms run on Ethereum mainnet, where a single transaction can cost $15–50 in network fees. Base is an Ethereum Layer 2 that gives you the same security guarantees at a fraction of the cost — typically under $0.05 per transaction.
Switching between modes
You choose the network when creating an agreement — it’s a simple toggle in the creation form. You can have agreements on both networks at the same time.
Your wallet needs to be on the matching network:
- Test mode: Switch your wallet to Sepolia
- Live mode: Switch your wallet to Base
Not sure which to pick? Start with Test mode. Create a practice agreement, invite a friend, and go through the whole flow. When you’re comfortable, switch to Live mode for real agreements.
